"Secrets Revealed" The Glass Smart Products Testing Lab

I have consulted on various products over many years for testing.  Primarily for safety.  To see if they were safe to use on different window surfaces.  To determine if it was in fact the product that caused serious damage to the windows. Could the product cause scratches and what type.  Would the product actually etch the glass and or react with it.  Even reacting with the glass in such a way as to cause the window to develop a fog. Then to find a way to change it back.   Usually I am asked to determine exactly how effective a product is at removing certain things like concrete, paint, silicone caulk, etc.  Also if the product is as long lasting or more so than other products.  Such as certain  hydrophobic sealant products.  Since the creation of Repcon back in 1971 we now have well over a hundred of these "after market" products.  Suffice it to say there are many different questions and literally hundreds of different products out there.  So I have to be very honest in saying it is absolutely impossible for me to answer all these questions about all of the different products.

But what I can do is explain (as I continue to develop them) the different tests that help to answer these questions.  By using actual products with such tests and write about those tests.  I will be focusing on specific types of products for specific purposes and explain what kind of results you should expect.  If you are looking for a certain type of product please just send me an email and I will do what I can to get you going on the right track.  Or if you have questions about a specific product that you have bought and or are thinking about buying, ask me.  If need be I can test it out for you as I have done many times before for both window cleaners and manufacturing/sales companies.

As far as I know, such a work has never been performed within our industry.  For one thing you would be surprised how many manufacturers who were never window cleaners, don't understand the products they brought to the market.  Usually they use window cleaners to help them do this.  To substantiate this I have seen many window cleaners develop products themselves which they have brought to our industry.  They have become manufacturers.  Some join with manufacturers.  We are a very independent group.

This is what I am in the process of doing now.  NOT joining with a manufacturer.  But becoming one myself.  Not developing a line of mechanical tools like squeegees, etc.  But rather a specialty line of products based on nano/micro particles, and chemicals.  Focused on different window surfaces.  Especially OEM coatings for float glass products.  I hope you all will join me.

The first Glass Smart "Secrets Revealed" ELetter will discuss the most simple test ever for determining the effectiveness and safety of polishing creams and powder based products for removing hard water spots from glass and OEM Coatings.  OEM stands for original equipment manufacturers. So in other words those coatings which are directly applied to float glass as it comes down the tin float bath.  Not those that we might apply after market.  Meaning after the window has been constructed and likely already installed in the building.

So again I say I hope you will join me.  Continue reading the Glass Smart Blog.  Also send me an email at henrygrover222@gmail.com and request a free copy of Secrets Revealed.
